  1. The Good Old Fashioned Push Up!

Push ups use several muscle groups at once, your core, biceps, triceps, deltoids and lower body, by using all these muscle groups, push ups cause your heart to work harder to pump blood around your body so can be considered a form of cardio! 

Make sure you keep your spine straight, squeeze your glutes (this will protect your lower back), keep your elbows close to your body and push the ground away from you. Rather than pushing yourself off the floor, imagine you’re pushing the ground away from you, this helps you maintain full body tension.

 

  1. Planks

Although planks look simple enough, looks can be deceiving! Planking works your entire core, obliques and your glutes. There are many variants of planks, however the basic version requires you to begin as if you were going to begin press ups. Bend your elbows so your entire forearms are on the floor under your shoulders and your body is straight from your feet to your head. Tense your abs and look down at the space between your hands to keep your spine position neutral. Now hold the position for as long as you can, fight the burn and don’t collapse until you can no longer help it!

 

  1. Squats

Squats are another great multi zone exercise, toning your whole body and especially your legs and bum!

Stand up straight with your feet, shoulder width apart, squat down by pushing your knees out to the side and keep your hips back. Squat down until your hips are lower than your knees, maintaining a straight back, then push yourself back up while keeping your knees out and chest up.
